GRAMBLING, LA (AP) - Frank Warren scored five touchdowns, four on the ground, and carried 29 times for 202 yards as Grambling State defeated Alcorn State 38-28 in a SWAC game on Saturday.
Warren, who came in as the No. 2 rusher in the Football Championship Subdivision, scored at least one touchdown in every quarter, including a 10-yard pass from Danny Reyes that put the Tigers (5-1, 5-0) ahead 21-7 with 37 seconds left until halftime.
Warren's 18-yard scoring run on the opening second-half possession made it 28-7, but Brandon Bridge's passing kept the Braves (3-3, 2-2) in range.
Bridge threw three of his four touchdown passes in the second half, including two to Ryan Singleton, and finished with 33 completions in 47 attempts for 404 yards but was intercepted twice. Bridge also carried 11 times for 41 yards.
The teams combined for 875 yards, 483 by Alcorn State.
