Saudi man trying to leave US arrested for D'Iberville assault, robbery

D'IBERVILLE, MS (WLOX) -

D'IBERVILLE, MS (WLOX) - A man who D'Iberville Police wanted for an alleged Armed Robbery and Aggravated Assault was captured at the Atlanta Airport this week. Investigators say Eid Sulaiman Albalawi, 32, of Saudi Arabia, was trying to leave the U.S.

It started on Monday when police were called to Arbor View Circle Apartments. The victim told officers that Albalawi hit him in the back of the head and other parts of his body with a hammer and stole his wallet. The victim suffered a broken arm and head injuries during the assault. He was taken by ambulance to Biloxi Regional Hospital, where he was treated and released.

Both the suspect and victim are members of the Royal Saudi Air Force. The two had attended a training class in Texas within the past year. The victim is currently attending a training class at Keesler Air Force Base. Eid Sulaiman Albalawi was reportedly in the United States as a foreign government official on business.

After the attack, Albalawi was placed on the National Crime Information Center list. Authorities caught up with him at the Atlanta Airport as he was trying to leave the U.S.

Albalawi is awaiting extradition back to Mississippi. His bond is set at $400,000.

    Bay St. Louis police issued an arrest warrant for Armon Joseph Crawford, 18, of Gulfport, and Xavier Lamar Simmons, 19, of D’Iberville. Both males are wanted in connection with the shooting that happened at Martin Luther King Jr. Park on June 6.

    Drew Bourgeois appeared in front of a Waveland judge Thursday for his preliminary hearing. The case was given to the grand jury, according to reports.
