South Mississippi weekend whereabouts - October 15-17

SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) - Wind down your week with a toast. The Coast Episcopal Parents Organization invites you to Toast of the Coast where you can enjoy specialty dishes, a live and silent auction, champagne, music and dancing. It's all Friday beginning at 7p.m. at the Ramsey Residence in Pass Christian.

Do your part to keep our water and beaches clean by helping out at the Coastal Cleanup. The year's event will focus on clearing trash on inland areas and waters instead of the beach. The cleanup begins at 8a.m. Saturday throughout South Mississippi to volunteer call (877) 232-2405.

Get your cooking mitten on and pull out your best gumbo recipe for this year's "Puttin' on the Roux" cook-off. Not much of a cook, that's ok too you can come out and taste the gumbo. Also enjoy live music, crafts, games, and free giveaways. All the proceeds benefit the Back Bay Mission. The event is Saturday at the Biloxi Town Green from 10a.m. until 5p.m.

Celebrate an Asian tradition coastal style at the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival in Biloxi. Watch a children's lantern parade, cultural dances, fashion shows and more Saturday from noon until 9p.m.

It will be all about the music, the sand and the sea in Waveland this weekend for WaveFest. There will be live music including "The Molly Ringwalds," a children's fair, arts & crafts, a huge firework display, 5K run and a five story ferris wheel. WaveFest is Saturday from 11a.m. until 8p.m. and Sunday from 12p.m. until 6p.m. at Coleman Avenue and Beach Boulevard.

Get your throwing arm ready for the famous mullet toss contest. Also enjoy unique hand crafted items, delicious food, entertainment and a car show at this year's Gatuier Mullet and Music Festival. Bring your folding chairs and dancing shoes to downtown Gautier Saturday from 9a.m. until 6p.m. and Sunday from 9a.m. until 5p.m.

History will come alive at Beauvoir this weekend for the annual Fall Muster. Re-enactors from across the state will act out battles from the civil war. Other festivities include a picnic basket auction, ladies tea and a dance. Gates open Saturday and Sunday at 9a.m.

Enjoy a unique opportunity to see Hancock County artists at work at this year's Arts Alive! Take the free, self guided tour and visit artists at their studios and galleries where their work is created. This weekend tours feature studios in Diamondhead and the Kiln and next weekend in Bay St. Louis, Waveland and Pearlington, head that way and then follow the signs beginning at 10a.m. Saturday and 12p.m. Sunday.
