PASCAGOULA, MS (WLOX) - PASCAGOULA, MS (WLOX) - It can detect parts in the body as small as a grain of sand. It's a new scanning device that now calls Singing River Hospital home.
Hospital officials say the radiology department will unveil a new high definition, low radiation CAT scanning system. The open house and ribbon-cutting for the $1.5 million machine is set for Wednesday.
In one rotation, the machine is able to detect parts in the human body as small as a grain of sand. Officials say the closest hospital with the same machine is the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
The ceremony is set for Wednesday from 3 to 5 p.m. at Singing River's radiology department in Pascagoula.
