LATIMER, MS (WLOX) - The Highway 15 re-routing controversy continues. Tonight at 7:00, a public meeting will be held at the Latimer Community Center for concerned citizens to voice their opinions.

You may recall the Mississippi Department of Transportation offered three possible routes for a new Highway 15. Latimer citizens say what they saw were homes of friends and family standing in the way.

Many of those residents have been very outspoken saying the new road will destroy their community. Tonight, they will present MDOT with a petition opposing the proposed route.

Jackson County Fire Marshal Ray Watson will also be there to explain the newly formed fire districts that have absorbed the former Latimer Fire Department.

Watch for more from tonight's meeting later today on WLOX News and WLOX.com.
