METAIRIE, LA (AP) - The New Orleans Saints have waived receiver Adrian Arrington to make room on the roster for the addition of veteran place kicker John Carney.
The Saints took Arrington out of Michigan in the seventh-round of the 2008 draft. He performed well in the preseason but was not active for any regular season games, in part because he has not excelled on special teams.
The Saints are now carrying two place kickers on their roster after signing the 46-year-old Carney and retaining third-year kicker Garrett Hartley, who missed a 29-yard game-winning field goal try in overtime during last Sunday's 27-24 loss to Atlanta.
In the preseason, Arrington caught 11 passes for 245 yards and two TDs, with a long catch of 87 yards.
