BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - It's every parent's nightmare. In less than 24 hours, two South Mississippi toddlers lost their lives in accidental drownings involving swimming pools.

Jackson County Sheriff Mike Byrd says shortly before 8 o'clock Sunday morning deputies responded to the Quail Creek Subdivision off Old Fort Bayou Road. Sheriff Byrd says two-year-old Caleb Holtzberger's mother woke up to find the child gone and the back door open. She went outside and discovered Caleb face down in an inground pool behind the house.

Sheriff Byrd says the child was pronounced dead at the scene and emergency responders believe the child had been in the pool for 45 minutes to an hour before he was discovered. The sheriff says Caleb's death looks to be an accident.

Another accidental drowning occurred in Pass Christian on Saturday. Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove says three-year-old William Montjoy of Diamondhead drowned at the Pass Christian Yacht Club.

Authorities believe the boy wandered away from his parents and fell into the pool. The boy was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
