George County High School student dies

GEORGE COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - GEORGE COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - Students at George County High School are mourning the loss of one of their own. George County Sheriff's Deputies said they responded to a two vehicle crash on Hopper Road in the Rock County Community around 4:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon.

Sources tell WLOX News, a 16-year-old boy pronounced dead at the scene. He was an 11th grader at George County High School. The driver of the other vehicle was 28-year old Regina Keel who was uninjured.

WLOX News will have more details on this tragic event as they become available.

Police have yet to release the student's name.

George County High School Principal Stewart Hurley told WLOX News, "The school's thoughts and prayers are with the family of the boy."

Hurley said bereavement counselors will be available to students on Monday. Authorities are still investigating the crash.
