PASCAGOULA, MS (WLOX) - PASCAGOULA, MS (WLOX) - Instead of two offices in Jackson County, BP now has only one.
Officials with the company spent this week moving equipment from the La Font Inn into an office at 710 Delmas Plaza in downtown Pascagoula. All aspects of the BP operation in Jackson County will be run out of that office, including the coordination of clean-up efforts, as well as outreach programs BP is beginning to set up.
Even though the lease on the property is month to month, officials with BP say they aren't leaving any time soon.
"I believe we will be here for quite some time," said Greg Knox with BP's public affairs division. "Obviously, we are still working on a lot of the clean-up efforts on the islands and the beaches as well, and we want to be very supportive of the community here in Jackson County."
The outreach program is starting up in the four states affected by this summer's oil spill, the largest in U.S. history.
