Ole Miss is looking for better team play in hopes of picking up wins

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Jeremiah Masoli has done everything humanly possible to propel the Rebels offense into the end zone but one player can't accomplish the feat by himself. It takes a total team effort.

Masoli has the ability to make something happen when things break down. The problem is the Ole Miss Rebels offense consistently breaks down due to an offensive line that has had to make adjustments because of injuries and one player being dismissed from the team.  At Monday's press conference Nutt said he was going to make changes in the offensive line.

Nutt said, "I really believe in these guys and I'm going to let them know that every single day on the field. You either get better or you get worse."  He added, "The one thing they have always said was, our team has played the hardest. And that's what I'm going to do, pull that button, we've always been known for playing at your highest level."

Another problem, the Rebels defense or lack of. Before the season Ole Miss was projected to have one of the top defensive units in the SEC. Jacksonville State and Vanderbilt came up with big plays against that defense and the Rebels find themselves heading into the Fresno State game Saturday at 6 in Oxford with one win and two defeats.

"Fresno State is probably the best team we will have played all year," Nutt said. "They're a really good football team. They always play hard. They do a good job both offensively and defensively. Their defense does not give up points easily. They have linebackers and defensive front guys that are very active and aggressive. Their corners do a good job. We have to get back on the practice field and have a great plan."

Nutt said, "I really believe in these guys and I'm going to let them know that every single day on the field. You either get better or you get worse."  He added, "The one thing they have always said was, our team has played the hardest. And that's what I'm going to do, pull that button, we've always been known for playing at your highest level."

The college game is both physical and mental and right now the Rebels aren't feeling very confident. Coach Nutt must now find a way to rebuild that confidence and the only way to do that is to post games under the win column beginning Saturday against Fresno State.
