WAVELAND, MS (WLOX) - WAVELAND, MS (WLOX) - This morning the community will come together for an interfaith service to support the victims of the BP oil spill. United Methodist, Lutheran, Catholic and Jewish leaders are among those gathering for what's described as a service of healing at Gulfside Assembly.
Organizers say Gulfside Assembly itself represents a symbolic safe haven, as it has endured several tragedies including Hurricane Katrina's destruction.
The public is invited to Gulfside Assembly for the interfaith service at 10:00 this morning. Steve Phillips will be there for this ministry that aims to offer comfort and support to the victims of the oil spill, as well as those South Mississippians still working to rebuild from Hurricane Katrina. He will show you what happens later today on wlox.com and WLOX News as many faiths join together to lift our community's spirit.
