D'IBERVILLE, MS (WLOX) - If there is a recession, it seems someone forgot to tell businesses in D'Iberville.  The D'Iberville- St. Martin Chamber of Commerce brought together businesses, new and old, for what it billed as a Business Bonanza.

"It's important because in this economy we want to promote the businesses in D'Iberville, and that is the main function of the chamber," explained chamber past president Carol Heyliger.

Everything from healthcare businesses to restaurants and antique shops set up booths.  However, merchants spent as much time visiting with neighbors as pitching products and trading business cards.

"D'Iberville has grown so much within the last 2 years that we just want to let the community know that there is great businesses out here," said Brandy Waltman of AJ's Doughnuts.

According to organizers, the event gave local businesses the chance to show off their products and what they have to offer. However, among the chatting and sharing, it also gave community members a chance to show off the pride they have for their community.

"It's a great community to live, it's a great community  to shop and there's going to be so much growth here within the next few years that we want to let everyone know that today this is the start of something good," said Waltman.

Many of the established businesses, like AJ's Doughnuts, have watched the area grow just like a member of the family.

"We're growing up with the families that bring their little kids in, we have a three-year-old that's growing up with the business.  It's amazing to see everything grow up," said Waltman.

The Bonanza was an all day event offering coupons, raffles and free food.  One lucky visitor even walked away with a $200 cash prize.
