Sec. of State Hosemann joins the hog ride

MOSS POINT, MS (WLOX) -

MOSS POINT, MS (WLOX) - Former Governor Mike Huckabee was also the keynote speaker at the first ever Hog ride, a fundraiser for the Home of Grace.

More than 100 bikers turned out for the event at the Trent Lott International Airport in Moss Point.

The Home of Grace is trying to raise more than $1 million to continue its drug treatment programs for men and women. Last year, more than 600 people were helped in their recovery.

One person showing up Wednesday was a very casual Secretary of State, Delbert Hosemann, riding his own motorcycle, and he praised the work of the Home of Grace.

"It puts people back on the path, on a good life plan when they've had trouble before and it; it's a wonderful institution for that," Hosemann said. "They take care of people when they really need it, give them Christian help and a good way to get started back on the right track in life."

After the breakfast gathering, the bikers hopped aboard and rode their motorcycles down Highway 90 to Gulfport.

Officials at the Home of Grace hope to make the Hog ride an annual event.
