BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Well known Coast photographer Susan Guice has decided to branch out.
"I've been doing commercial and art photography for about 10 years. You build a portfolio that only family and friends see. Eventually you have to do something with it," Susan said.
So, Susan Guice decided to open an art gallery in Biloxi. Her photographs are exhibited along with other art, mostly by painters with a coast connection.
"Hopefully, we'll be able to introduce new artists to the coast," said Susan.
Susan is also a pilot, known for her aerial photography. Over the past six months or so she has been able to capture the BP oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico. She says it was an eye opening experience.
"We're out there flying around, and everything looked normal. Suddenly we saw giant red, orange streaks in the water," she said.
The photos are now a permanent and important part of history. That history will adorn the walls of the new gallery. Susan is doing some unique things. There is a section called art for the very young.
"Isn't it great! Children love art. This is art for kids and art that is collectible," said Guice.
As a photographer, Susan says she looks for thought provoking images that spark feelings in people.
"I come up with a way of looking at something, trying to create a photo that evokes emotion for someone," Susan said.
The Guice Gallery is now open on Pass Road in Biloxi.
