HATTIESBURG, MS (WLOX) - Despite having fewer days to get ready for the third game of the season Southern Miss coach Larry Fedora said practice has gone well.
"We gave them the day off Sunday and we practiced Monday and today, "Fedora said. "We will polish it up tomorrow and get a lot of our special teams done."
A number of key players were back on the practice field Monday after missing the Prairie View A&M game and all are expected to play on Friday. The list included running back Tracy Lampley, tight end Johdirck Morris, wide receivers Quentin Pierce and Kelvin Bolden.
Fedora said, "We will look at the film and figure out what they can do." He added, "They all practiced today and they actually looked pretty good."
Last season Kansas beat the Golden Eagles 35-28 in Lawrence. A win over the Jayhawks would extend the Southern Miss home game winning streak to ten games.
