SAUCIER, MS (WLOX) - A Saucier family is struggling to find the basic necessities after a devastating fire. Friday, a 14-year-old awakened to the smell of smoke and quickly helped her grandmother and siblings escape.
The good news is that everyone got out unharmed, but the family's home was destroyed.
Relatives say Sara Smith, her mother and six children received emergency help from the Red Cross, but now family and friends are trying to raise money to replace clothing, shoes and school supplies for the children.
Friends have set up the Sara Smith Benefit Fund at Hancock Bank and are soliciting donations to help the family move forward.
