BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -The public is invited to the Department of Marine Resources hearing on proposed maintenance, repairs and upgrades to the Fort Bayou Bridge boat launch in Ocean Springs.

The public hearing will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2010, at the Bolton Building at 1141 Bayview Ave. in Biloxi on the fifth floor.

The Jackson County Board of Supervisors is proposing maintenance, upgrades and repairs to the boat launch and parking facilities at the northern footing of the Fort Bayou Bridge in Ocean Springs.

They also want to do work on four sections of bulkhead, which is almost 600 feet long. Work to the fishing pier is also proposed, but they will need two wetlands variances to the Mississippi Coastal Program.

The public will not be allowed to ask questions, but concerned parties can leave their comments about the proposed project for public record.

If you can't make the meeting but would like to make comments or objections to the proposed project submit them in writing to the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources at 1141 Bayview Avenue, Biloxi, MS 39530 and the Office of Pollution Control, P.O. Box 2261, Jackson, MS 39225-2261 before 1:00 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010.
