More Spotted Seatrout heading to St. Louis Bay

BAY ST. LOUIS, MS (WLOX) - BAY ST. LOUIS, MS (WLOX) - More Spotted Seatrout are heading to South Mississippi waters later today. Gulf Coast Research Lab is releasing fingerlings into Saint Louis Bay this afternoon. A similar release took place last November when GCRL released 4,000 Seatrout fingerlings.

Before the young fish are re-located, each one is inserted with a microscopic tag so the scientists can track the growth and movement of the Seatrout.

Marine Scientist Dr. Reggie Blaylock, told WLOX News at the 2009 release that, "The Seatrout is the most popular recreational fish in the Gulf of Mexico. And it's under tremendous fishing pressure so there's a lot of concern from resource management agencies about how to make sure we maintain this important resource."

We'll be there when the Seatrout head to sea and on and WLOX News you can see what happens.
