Two Dat!

Are you ready for some football? After a summer filled with tar balls, economic concerns and the lingering after effects of Hurricane Katrina, we all need to get away from life's problems for a while. The Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints kick off the football season Thursday in the Dome against Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings.

You may remember the Saints beat Minnesota and coast native son, Brett Favre, in a nail biting NFC Division game, which propelled the Saints into the Super Bowl.

The win for the team and the region could not have come at a better time. Residents of our area have had to endure a lot in the past several years. The Saints showed that with persistence, great teamwork and good coaching anything is possible.

It's hard to imagine a better match up for the Saints opener than Brett and the Vikings. Our hope is that the Saints, regardless of the team's record this year, will still be able to generate the belief that dreams can come true and inspire our community and the entire Gulf Coast as we comeback from the oil spill and Katrina.

It is not just football, the Super Bowl Champion Saints have made it so much more by giving each of us hope in our lives and making us believe that anything is possible. Let the inspiration roll this season, for our beloved Saints - Two Dat!

That's our opinion, we would like to hear yours. Email your thoughts to editorials@wlox.com, or post your comments below.
