OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) – Ocean Springs Harbor Master Lesley Hamm is under investigation by the state Auditor's office. Tuesday night, the Jackson County Board of Supervisors voted to terminate Hamm.
"This position requires the highest level of integrity and professional conduct. The County must have a Harbor Master that shares those same standards," Board President Mike Mangum said. "Recent actions by Hamm were in violation of the County's personnel policy and warranted the Board's decision."
The County has appointed an interim director for the facility while a job search begins to fill the Harbor Master position full time.
The Small Craft Harbor is operated and maintained by the Board of Supervisors through the Harbor Commission and provides 165 boat slips to private and commercial vessels. The harbor is located on the waters of the Mississippi Sound inside the City of Oceans Springs.
