Robin Roberts & GMA to mark Katrina anniversary in the Pass

PASS CHRISTIAN, MS (WLOX) -

PASS CHRISTIAN, MS (WLOX) - ABC's Robin Roberts and Good Morning America will mark the 5th Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina in the Pass Friday morning and you can be part of the live broadcast.

Roberts, who began her career at WLOX, calls the Pass home.  In the immediate days after the storm, Roberts shared the emotional stories from her hometown and other South Mississippi communities with GMA viewers.

Over the past five years, Roberts and ABC News have showcased the progress and challenges since the storm. ABC is promoting her stories this week as the Road to Recovery.

Roberts will broadcast live from the Pass Christian Center for Excellence on Second St. and Church Ave. Like the other GMA broadcasts from the coast, South Mississippians are invited to come to the Pass Christian Center early Friday morning to be in the audience.

ABC is encouraging families to come with creative posters and their hometown spirit. To take part, arrive no later than 5:45 a.m. and plan to stay until 8:00 a.m.

Friday's broadcast is part of Good Morning America's "Road to Recovery" special report which has taken Robin to the site of the massive, deadly earthquake in Haiti and Nashville, TN, which is still cleaning up from this Spring's flood waters.
