GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - A Gulfport woman who spat in an officer's face last week is now behind bars for the outburst. Ellen Ramona Wangle, 39, was arrested Friday and charged with Exposing others to Hepatitis C.

It all started on Monday when police were called to a business on Highway 49 for a report of shoplifting. Wangle was taken into custody, but became combative and spat in an officer's face.

Once tests confirmed that Wangle was infected with Hepatitis, a warrant was issued for her arrest.

Justice Court Judge Gene Dedeaux set Wangle's bond $100,000. She's being held at the Harrison County Adult Detention Center in lieu of bond.
