BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - More than $125,000 has been granted to the Biloxi and Gulfport Police Departments and the Harrison County Sheriff's Department.
The law enforcement agencies applied for these federal grants specifically to improve their ability to deter crime.
The Biloxi Police Department will receive a little more than $50,000.
Biloxi Police Chief John Miller said, "We're going to use that money to buy some motorcycles which we're in desperate need of and also some radar equipment for those motorcycles."
Chief Miller said the money will also go to updating the surveillance equipment that is in the booking room.
The grant was made possible through the U.S. Department of Justice.
