GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) – A car chase ending in a wreck, emotional witnesses arrested for interfering with a crime scene, and an aggressive suspect taken into custody.  This was the scene on Hewes Avenue Wednesday evening after police apprehended Marvin McMillan.

McMillan has had several encounters with police, including charges of aggravated assault, and possession with intent to distribute.

When police spotted McMillan driving Wednesday, they attempted to stop him. That's when police say he led them on a chase, hitting a police car in the process.  The chase ended when McMillan crashed into a pole on Tennessee Street, off Hewes Avenue.

Concerned neighbors and witnesses surrounded the scene.  Police confirmed that two witnesses were arrested for interfering with a crime scene, including Clifton Walker who was tased.

After the wreck, McMillian was taken to the hospital for treatment, but when he was released from the hospital back into police custody, police say he violently resisted arrest again.

According to police, McMillan punched an officer at the hospital and attempted to grab a taser gun. He was finally subdued when a second officer tased McMillan.

McMillan was charged with assault and is being held on a $300,000 bond.

Gulfport Police declined to talk about the tasing of Walker which has caused uproar in his Hewes Avenue neighborhood.
