BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - A long-time Biloxi police officer resigned Tuesday, and WLOX News has learned he's under investigation for alleged sex charges.
The District Attorney's office confirmed that they are looking into allegations of statutory rape and solicitation of prostitution against that officer, but so far, he has not been charged with a crime.
Biloxi Police Chief John Miller told WLOX News the officer had been with the department 18 or 19 years and resigned some time ago.
Miller declined to give any more details about the allegations or investigation other than saying the case has been turned over to the district attorney's office.
Miller told WLOX News, "We're doing exactly the proper and right thing to do, and that's what we've done since day one."
The chief also asked anyone with information on these alleged crimes to call the chief's office at 228-435-6100.
