BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - A journey up to the third floor of the new Ohr O'Keefe Museum of Art reveals a spectacular view. Construction on the campus is moving along at a brisk pace.

"We have three buildings ready to open on November 5. The Governor will be here," said Museum Director Denny Mecham. "We're very excited about the completion of what we call phase one of the new museum"

This architectural and engineering marvel is an obvious example of Frank Gehry's work.

Mecham reminds everyone that Gehry is one of the 20th century's most innovative architects, and his energy is still recognized around the world today.

"He is a unique personality on the world stage."

Gehry creations are recognized as some of the most important structures on the planet. His pods at the Ohr campus are symbols of the architects unrivaled imagination.

Eventually the pods will be connected by a glass atrium. You can see a movie about Frank Gehry this Saturday night at the Mary C. O'Keefe Cultural Center. The movie takes viewers inside Gehry's mind.

'Sketches of Frank Gehry' looks at the man through the eyes of film maker Sydney Pollack. It will be shown Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at the Mary C. in Ocean Springs.

Denny Mecham said once the museum opens, it'll put South Mississippi on the map.

"It will make everyone believe that the Mississippi Coast is vibrant. It's alive!"
