Emergency managers watching Gulf storm

SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) - Emergency managers across South Mississippi are watching the Gulf closely. The Tropical Depression 5 churning the gulf will bring strong winds, rain and high tides to the coast Thursday and Friday.

Emergency operations managers in Hancock, Harrison and Jackson Counties held briefings Wednesday to review response plans. They are also urging residents to prepare their homes for wind and possible flooding in low-lying areas.

Wednesday morning, Hancock County set up sandbag locations for residents.

The four self-serve locations for sandbags are:

  • South County Barn, Lakeshore Rd.
  • Pearlington Fire Department, Hwy. 604
  • Horse Arena, Kiln Delisle Rd.
  • County Complex, Longfellow Rd.
