You have heard our editorials criticizing the dumping of waste from the BP oil spill clean up into a local landfill. But now we want to praise the new agreement between BP and Waste Management not to dump any more oil waste in the Pecan Grove Landfill.
We applaud them for coming to that decision. We also tip our hats to the Harrison County Board of Supervisors for standing up for the citizens of their county and demanding that the waste be disposed of somewhere else.
It is great news that BP has agreed to try and recycle or reuse as much of the waste as possible. This is the way it should be disposed.
