Latest tests show oil in landfill not toxic

HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - We have two new pieces of information about the oil being dumped in the Pecan Grove landfill.

First, Harrison County supervisors have seen the preliminary results from tests done on that oil. And according to Supervisor Windy Swetman, the analysis concluded what other tests concluded. The oil is not toxic, and not a threat to the environment.

Swetman also said Waste Management managers will be at Monday's board of supervisors meeting. He said among other things, they'd be asked questions about whether the oil was creating space issues at the landfill.
