CANTON – (WLOX) Lane Pippin of Ocean Springs beat Jackson's Scott Rhodes in a 2-hole playoff to claim the 2010 Trustmark Invitational at Colonial Country Club in Canton.

Rain washed out Saturday's second round, so Pippin's 1st round score of (-2) put him atop the leaderboard for Sunday's final round.

Rhodes, who entered Sunday at (+1), fired a 4-under in the final round, but missed a par putt on the 18th hole that would've given him the tournament. Instead, he and Pippin went to the playoff.

Pippin, who won the Trustmark title in 2002 at the Tupelo Country Club, has recently had a good tournament run. Last month, he won the Coast Amateur at The Oaks in Pass Christian.

V.J. Trolio of Old Waverly was the low professional.

The tournament was battered both days by inclement weather, which shortened the tournament from 54 to 36 holes.

The Trustmark Invitational rotates among Mississippi's top courses between the North, Central and South regions.  The 2011 tournament will be played at the Country Club of Jackson.
