JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX)- Jackson County business owners feeling a financial hit from the BP oil spill are hopeful this evening.  The coast businesses hope the nightmare is winding down so they can begin recovering from this Coastal Crisis.

Ocean Marine Group is a long time boating company in Ocean Springs. Employees said stopping the BP well from spewing oil into the Gulf is just what they've been praying for.

"We are obviously in the height of our season, and the spill came during the height of our season, so it had a big affect on us," General Manager Jerry Adkerson said.

Boat sales are down 60 percent at the store. The company says ironically, a lot of its business is now coming from BP. The latest oil news also has Gulf Coast Upholstery in Pascagoula breathing a sigh of relief for now. Store owner Terry Mathis said sales have drop off by 40 percent.

"I'm happy they got it; it took so long to get it. I am looking forward to the cleanup getting done now," Mathis said.

Business owners expect recovery will take a long time.

"It hurts the tourists guys and it hurts me. It is a ripple effect all the way through."

Business owners said they refuse to let what they worked so hard for sink, and they hope BP will go the extra mile to assure that as well.
