OXFORD – (WLOX) Ole Miss head football coach Houston Nutt dismissed wide receiver Patrick Patterson from the Rebel football team Wednesday morning.

Nutt didn't give any specifics, but cited Patterson's violation of a team rule as the reason he was kicked off the Ole Miss squad. This is the third time Patterson's run into Nutt's doghouse.

He was suspended for a game last season for ‘violating team rules.' Then, he was suspended for the entirety of spring practice for the same reason. Patterson was rumored to be on the right track, but that all changed Wednesday morning.

Patterson, who was one of the Rebels' top recruits in the 2009 signing class out of Noxubee Co. High School in Macon, caught 12 passes for 180 yards and 1 touchdown during his freshman year. He started one game, against Alabama, last season, and was expected to have a bigger impact in his sophomore season.
