Last external tank headed for Kennedy Space Center

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WLOX) -

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WLOX) - NASA and Lockheed Martin will hold a ceremony at 9 a.m. today at the Michoud Assembly Facility. The ceremony is to commemorate the 37 year External Tank (ET) program and the final tank's rollout.

The tank, designated ET-138, will roll out one mile to the Michoud barge dock. Then, the tank will leave on a six day, 900 mile sea journey to NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

The tank will support the Space Shuttle Endeavour's STS-134 launch next year. Lockheed Martin workers finished building the ET-138 on June 25.
