OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) - An Ocean Springs woman is celebrating a century of life. On Sunday, family and friends gathered at St. John's Episcopal Church in Ocean Springs for Mrs. Irma Hoffman's 100th birthday party.

Hoffman's family says she has always cared deeply about helping the community. She founded the first pre-school in her hometown back in Colorado. Now at 100, she volunteers five days a week serving drinks at Lord is My Help soup kitchen.

"Very community minded,"said Ray Brumbaugh, her son. "Very generous. Been active in a lot of things and organizations. Just kept very very busy. I think that's what kept her going so many years so many years. She just does everything right apparently. Anyway, she's a great mom."

Mrs. Hoffman says the secret to long life is to do everything in moderation.
