BAY ST LOUIS, MS (WLOX) - Hancock County Emergency Operations Director Bryan Adam confirms tar patties have washed ashore in Hancock County.
Adam reports the patties were found from Washington Street in Bay St. Louis to the Silver Slipper Casino in Waveland.
Adam says the patties range from quarter size to about the size of a fist.
"The beach is not inundated with patties," Adam said. "You might run into one every ten to 15 feet."
Adam said it does appear to be some type of emulsified oil.
MDEQ took samples of the material. According to Adam, workers should arrive in the morning to clean up the patties.
