PASS CHRISTIAN, MS (WLOX) – When Pass Christian needed additional land to rebuild its city hall on Scenic Drive, Dayton Robinson said, let me buy it for you. Now, Robinson's generosity is being rewarded.

The new Pass Christian City Hall opens on July 23. Friday morning, the community gathered in that complex's newly created courtyard for an unveiling of a bust of Mr. Robinson.

Pass Christian Mayor Chipper McDermott said Robinson is being honored for his generosity, his love, and his devotion to his hometown. According to the mayor, Robinson is a 35 year member of the city's planning commission. He's a 40 year member of the Pass Christian Rotary.

After Katrina, when Pass Christian leaders considered moving city hall to Second Street, McDermott remembers Robinson being one of the people who said no, keep it on Scenic Drive, because that will show the world that the Pass was back.

To rebuild on Scenic, FEMA required additional property. Robinson is the man who purchased that land.
