Man Dies on Board M.V. Sanko Rejoice

A 43-year-old man from India is dead tonight after a shipping accident at the Chevron Refinery in Pascagoula.

Jackson County coroner Vicki Broadus says around one Saturday afternoon, Gill Singh was making inspections on the Indian-registered M.V. Sanko Rejoice.

She said Singh leaned over the side of the boat to check on the mooring rope, when the rope broke and hit him in the head.

Broadus said the force of the rope probably caused multiple injuries.

He was taken to Singing River Hospital where officials say he died.
