Volunteers still coming and we are very thankful

Nearly five years after Hurricane Katrina destroyed so many homes on the coast, we still have thousands of volunteers coming to South Mississippi to help us rebuild. This week alone 130 volunteers are in Hancock County building five Habitat homes.

The volunteers include 22 students from Ireland, as well as people from Illinois, Pennsylvania and Los Angeles.

At the same time other volunteers continue to come weekly to Hope Community Development Agency in Biloxi to help rebuild Point Cadet and other areas of South Mississippi. And Camp Victor in Ocean Springs still has volunteers each week helping to refurbish storm damaged homes.

These are just three organizations where volunteers can call and come to the coast to help rebuild. We know there are others. And to all of these volunteers and the groups that are still housing them and organizing them we want to say "Thank You."

There will never be enough words of praise for the work you have done. Without your efforts and those of your fellow volunteers from all over the world, South Mississippi would not be where it is today in its recovery.

That's our opinion, we would like to hear yours. Email your thoughts to editorials@wlox.com, or post your comments below.
