Protective fabric fencing goes up in Jackson County

JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - Fencing crews began installing the first section of protective fabric fencing on the eastside of the Lake Mars Pier Friday morning.

The reusable fencing is a silk like material which allows water to pass through, but catches oil inside the fabric.

The fencing is part of a test project by the Department of Marine Resources to protect marsh lands and buoys. The County received one mile of fabric fencing from DMR, which will be used along both sides of the Lake Mars pier and along Belle Fontaine Beach.
