HATTIESBURG, MS (WLOX) - A New Orleans man wanted for murder was discovered by U.S. Marshals Tuesday hiding under the bed of a family member in Hattiesburg.

Karl Dauphine, 20, is wanted in connection with the murder of Deiontay Melacon, and the attempted murder of another person. NOPD detectives said Dauphine was the third suspect and the lone remaining fugitive wanted for the May 1st crime.

A tip to Crimestoppers led authorities to the Hattiesburg apartment where Dauphine was captured. The marshals also confiscated a 9mm handgun from the apartment. According to the NOPD, a 9mm handgun was the weapon used in the murder.

"This case is a shining example of the outstanding work when community groups like Crimestoppers combine with local and federal law enforcement agencies to take violent criminals out of our neighborhoods," said Genny May, U.S. Marshal for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
