OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) - F&B Catering company from Ocean Springs has been contracted by BP to provide meals for thousands of workers stationed along the coast.

"Right now we're close to providing 70,000 meals a week. That includes breakfast, lunch and dinner delivered to six or seven locations on the coast," Craig Fant said.

Temporary workers hired by BP are at various staging sites from Pascagoula to Bayou Caddy in Hancock County. Fant said F&B specializes in disaster relief catering

"We were formed after Katrina. We've done Hurricanes Ike and Gustav. This is a natural fit. We know how to do huge numbers."

Fant is upset over the oil spill threatening coastal Mississippi. But he's glad to be filling a need and providing jobs in South Mississippi

"We hate that this is going on, but we're happy to keep the money in Mississippi."

As the coastal crisis continues, more workers will probably be hired in the days and weeks ahead. That means F&B will be making more meals.

"They're already talking about adding more. As the oil gets closer they'll ramp us up even more," Fant said.

F&B has hired almost 40 extra people to meet the demand of feeding BP workers in South Mississippi.

Full-time Waveland city workers, primarily police officers, who take-home vehicles outside of the city limits could see a change to the city's policy soon. City leaders said the current policy is antiquated and needs to be rewritten into something that would benefit both the officers and the taxpayers.
