BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Governor Haley Barbour wants new tourism ads on TV this weekend. He's asked the Mississippi Development Authority to combine a brief statement from him with in house footage to produce the spot.
The governor shared that plan today with tourism leaders from around the coast.
The meeting became necessary after Barbour asked the MDA to administer $15 million from BP specifically for advertising. Coast leaders believe they should be responsible for that money, because they know how to sell the coast.
Gov. Barbour said doling out that money to multiple agencies would be counterproductive.
