D'Iberville's city hall construction begins a new stage

D'IBERVILLE, MS (WLOX) -

D'IBERVILLE, MS (WLOX) - D'Iberville leaders will mark another milestone in the building of the new $3.4 million D'Iberville City Hall Complex tonight. Just before the council meeting, elected officials and D'Iberville employees will sign the last beam that the builder will then put into the skeleton of the new city hall. The contractor calls this a "topping out."

Back in December, everyone put their signatures in the wet cement to mark the beginning of the first phase of the project, the construction of a 22,000 square foot building that will house city hall, council chambers and courtrooms. The complex is being built next to the existing city hall. This part of the project is expected to be finished by late this year.

The second phase of the project calls for renovating and reconfiguring the current city hall.

Later this evening on WLOX News and WLOX.com, we'll show you the "topping out" of the building.
