The Flame of Hope arrives tonight in Biloxi

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Tonight is a special night for Keesler Air Force Base. It's the opening ceremonies for the 42nd annual Mississippi Special Olympics Summer Games.

Keesler Air Force Base has hosted the Special Olympic Summer Games now for more than two decades. And it's usually a huge success.

Last year, the event brought in more than 1,300 athletes and caregivers from across the state. More than 3,000 people volunteered to help with the games.

It's a day filled with competition, and determination. And in the end, everyone comes out a winner.

The festivities begin Friday night at 8pm when "The Flame of Hope" torch arrives at Keesler to light the caldron.
