OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) - Four people were injured Thursday when a Vancleave woman drove her car into a clothing store. The accident happened around noon at the Cato store in Ocean Springs.

Police Lt. Steven R. Futral said Bertha McClain, 64, thought her Chevy Malibu was in reverse when she hit the gas. Futral said the car crashed through the front glass of the Cato store, traveled through the store and struck the wall between the Cato store and the Shoe Dept. store.

McClain's son, Leo, was also in the car. Both received minor injuries and were taken by ambulance to Ocean Springs Hospital for treatment.

Two people inside the store were also injured. Customer Sara Franklin of Ocean Springs received minor injuries. Store Manager Karen Denise Demouey received moderate injuries. They were also taken by ambulance to Ocean Springs Hospital for treatment.

Police said none of the injures appeared to be life threatening.

Ocean Springs Police are still investigating the crash. For now, investigators will only say that the driver did not appear to be impaired, and no charges have been filed.

Extensive damage was sustained by both stores, but the cost is yet to be determined.
