Crash closes Highway 63


GEORGE COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - A two vehicle crash has shut down north and southbound traffic on Highway 63 in George County. The crash happened about 4:40 Wednesday afternoon about two miles north of the Jackson and George County line at Grain Elevator Road.

Mississippi Highway Patrol confirms, there were injuries. Troopers are still on the scene trying to clear the crash site.

A driver who came upon the accident told WLOX News, four teenage girls were in a pickup truck was northbound on Highway 63. The witness said it appeared the pickup attempted a left turn, across traffic, onto Grain Elevator Road into the path of a southbound SUV. 

The witness also told WLOX, one of the teenagers was taken away from the scene by life flight and another by ambulance.

Traffic is backed up for several miles. Highway Patrol advises motorists to avoid this area.
