Crews plan to move containment box farther away

ON THE GULF OF MEXICO (AP) - Crews are planning on parking the giant oil containment box farther away from the massive Gulf of Mexico leak, and they are going to offload equipment that could be used in a new attempt to stem the flow of oil.

A daily activity sheet reviewed by The Associated Press on Sunday said there are plans to unload equipment that would be used to try to seal the leak from the top.

BP PLC spokesman Mark Proegler told the AP that no decisions have been made, but that the company was considering three options, one of which is called a top kill.

The technique uses a tube to shoot mud and concrete directly into the well's blowout preventer, a process could take two to three weeks.

Crews are also planning on securing the box about 1,600 feet from the leak after ice like crystals clogged the top.
