BP reaches out to Biloxi's Vietnamese community

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) – Representatives from BP and the many state agencies responding to the Coastal Crisis answered questions from the Vietnamese community Friday night in Biloxi.

More than 100 people, mostly Vietnamese fishermen, packed the meeting hosted by Asian Americans for Change and the Hope Community Development. BP shared information about the impact of the oil spill, the future of fishing and the possibility of getting work as part of the cleanup effort.

Representatives from the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality and the Department of Marine Resources also answered questions from the crowd.

Vietnamese interpreters were there to translate to those with limited English language skills. Written information was available in English and Vietnamese.
