BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Wednesday morning BP announced it will meet with owners of shrimp and oyster boats and fishing vessels who are interested in serving as vessels for hire to participate in the Vessels of Opportunity Program at 1pm.
The meeting which is actually a four-hour training session will take place at 1 pm at the Biloxi Community Center.
According to the BP statement: "Vessel operators that opt to participate in this program will assist in shoreline protection activities."
"To participate in the Vessels of Opportunity Program, vessel owners are invited to a 4-hour BP Safety & Induction Training Session starting a 1 p.m. at the Biloxi Community Center (591 Howard Ave, Biloxi, MS)."
"The response contractors for the Vessels of Opportunity program will need information such as the name of the vessel owner, the boat's dimensions and other characteristics including length, draft, horsepower, and other information such as whether members of the crew are HAZWOPER trained (40 hour training)."
"At the conclusion of the Safety & Induction Training Session, vessel owners will be provided a copy of the Vessels of Opportunity Program charter agreement and will have the opportunity to opt in."
