HORN ISLAND, MS (WLOX) -

HORN ISLAND, MS (WLOX) - Captain John Ludwig with Mitchell Marine came across some large pieces of debris just off Horn Island Tuesday, and he believes it could be part of the Deepwater Horizon oil rig.

"Two large pressure vessels used for nitrogen washed up with heavy burn on them," Ludwig told WLOX News.

Ludwig is working on a moth eradication program with the USDA. His trip to Horn Island had nothing to do with the oil spill.

We showed his pictures to Fourth District Congressman Gene Taylor who forwarded them to the Coast Guard for further inspection.

Transocean spokesman Guy Cantwell also saw the pictures and did not rule out the possibility that it could be part of the rig. Cantwell said the company would be sending someone out to inspect the debris.
